Bait (2012)
“Bait” is a 2012 Australian-Singaporean 3D horror-thriller film directed by Kimble Rendall. The film centers around a group of people who become trapped in a flooded supermarket after a tsunami hits a coastal Queensland town in Australia. As if the disaster isn’t terrifying enough, they soon discover that they are not alone in the water-filled aisles: a pack of great white sharks has also been washed into the store.
The survivors, including Josh (played by Xavier Samuel) and Tina (played by Sharni Vinson), must find a way to outsmart the deadly predators and escape to safety. As tensions rise and the water level continues to rise, they face increasingly desperate situations and difficult choices. The film combines elements of survival horror with intense suspense and thrilling shark attack sequences, leveraging the confined space of the supermarket to create a claustrophobic and high-stakes environment.
“Bait” received praise for its innovative premise and effective use of 3D technology to enhance the suspense and terror of the shark attacks. It offers a unique twist on the traditional shark thriller genre by setting the action in an unexpected and confined location, adding an extra layer of tension to the survival story.
