“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (2014) is an action-adventure film directed by Jonathan Liebesman and produced by Michael Bay. It is a reboot of the popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, which originated as a comic book series created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.
The film stars Megan Fox as April O’Neil, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick, and features Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, and Pete Ploszek as the voices and motion-capture performers for the titular turtles: Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael, respectively.
Set in New York City, the story follows April O’Neil (Megan Fox), a journalist who uncovers a secretive crime syndicate led by The Shredder (Tohoru Masamune). As she investigates, April discovers the existence of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, four mutated turtles trained in ninjutsu by their rat sensei, Splinter (voiced by Danny Woodburn).
The Turtles—Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael—are working from the shadows to combat the criminal activities of The Shredder and his Foot Clan. Their goal is to stop The Shredder from unleashing a dangerous plan that threatens the city and the world.
April, initially skeptical, becomes an ally to the Turtles, helping them navigate the human world while they fight against the Foot Clan. The film combines action-packed sequences with humor, showcasing the Turtles’ distinct personalities and their camaraderie.
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (2014) received mixed reviews from critics but was generally praised for its visual effects and action scenes. The film aimed to introduce the beloved characters to a new generation while maintaining the core elements of the original franchise. The film was followed by a sequel, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows” (2016).
