GREYHOUND (2020)

“Greyhound” is a 2020 war film based on the 1955 novel “The Good Shepherd” by C.S. Forester. The movie, directed by Aaron Schneider and starring Tom Hanks, who also wrote the screenplay, is set during World War II. The story follows U.S. Navy Commander Ernest Krause, played by Tom Hanks, as he is assigned to lead an Allied convoy of 37 ships across the treacherous North Atlantic.

The convoy must navigate through the perilous “Black Pit,” an area where they are out of range of air cover and vulnerable to German U-boats. Commander Krause, aboard the destroyer USS Keeling (code-named “Greyhound”), faces relentless attacks from the U-boats and must use his limited experience and tactical skills to protect the convoy and outmaneuver the enemy submarines.

The film portrays the intense cat-and-mouse game between the convoy’s escorts and the U-boat wolf packs, highlighting the tension, bravery, and challenges of naval warfare during World War II.
