KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (2024)

“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is an upcoming American science fiction action film directed by Wes Ball. The screenplay is by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison, with production by Joe Hartwick Jr., Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Jason Reed. Produced and distributed by 20th Century Studios, it serves as the sequel to “War for the Planet of the Apes” (2017) and the fourth installment in the reboot series. Owen Teague stars in the lead role alongside Freya Allan, Peter Macon, Eka Darville, and Kevin Durand.

Development of the film began in 2019 after Disney’s acquisition of Fox, with Wes Ball attached as director. Much of the script was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and casting started in June 2022 after the script’s completion. Owen Teague was cast in the lead role in August, and additional casting and the film’s title were announced in subsequent months. Filming commenced in October in Sydney. “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is set for release in the United States on May 24, 2024.
