Forrest Gump (1994) is a film directed by Robert Zemeckis and based on Winston Groom’s 1986 novel. It tells the story of Forrest Gump, played by Tom Hanks, a man with a low IQ and an extraordinary life. The film is narrated by Forrest himself as he waits at a bus stop, recounting his remarkable journey.

Forrest grows up in Greenbow, Alabama, with his mother, who instills in him the belief that “life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re gonna get.” Despite his intellectual challenges, Forrest’s mother ensures he receives an education and encourages him to pursue his dreams.

His life changes dramatically when he joins the U.S. Army and serves in the Vietnam War. There, he befriends Bubba, who dreams of starting a shrimp business, and becomes a personal bodyguard to Lieutenant Dan Taylor. After being wounded, Forrest fulfills his promise to Bubba by starting a successful shrimp company and later invests in Apple Computer, amassing significant wealth.

Throughout his life, Forrest remains devoted to his childhood friend Jenny Curran. Jenny leads a troubled life marked by instability and drug abuse, but despite their different paths, Forrest’s love for her never wavers. They eventually reunite, and Jenny gives birth to their son, Forrest Jr. Tragically, Jenny dies from an illness, leaving Forrest to raise their son on his own.
