Death Road – The Most Dangerous Drive on Earth Becomes a Race Against Time

💀

From visionary action-thriller director David Leitch (Atomic Blonde, Bullet Train) comes Death Road, a relentless, high-octane chase film set against the most dangerous stretch of highway on Earth. Slated for release in August 2025, the film promises to be a nerve-shredding ride that blends breathless action, brutal survival, and an unstoppable ticking clock.

The story follows Ethan Cole (played by Chris Hemsworth), a former black-ops driver who has gone off the grid after a mission gone wrong. When his estranged sister is kidnapped by a South American cartel, Ethan is forced back behind the wheel to deliver a mysterious package across Bolivia’s infamous Yungas Road—known worldwide as “Death Road”—before sunrise. With sheer cliffs on one side, jungle ravines on the other, and mercenaries in hot pursuit, every turn could be his last.

Joining Hemsworth is Ana de Armas as a resourceful undercover Interpol agent, Idris Elba as a ruthless cartel enforcer, and Wagner Moura as the cunning kingpin who holds all the cards. The film is packed with practical stunt work, from real cars hurtling along the perilous mountain pass to explosive close-quarters combat on moving vehicles.

Leitch has described Death Road as “a love letter to pure, physical filmmaking” with minimal CGI and maximum danger. Legendary stunt driver Ben Collins coordinated the film’s vehicular insanity, including a jaw-dropping centerpiece sequence involving a collapsing bridge, a fuel tanker, and a helicopter assault—all shot on location.

The visuals, captured by cinematographer Mandy Walker, immerse viewers in a world where speed and death dance together on the edge of oblivion. Composer Tom Holkenborg (Junkie XL) provides a pounding, metallic score that mirrors the film’s unrelenting momentum.

With its blend of ruthless pacing, breathtaking scenery, and bone-crunching stunts, Death Road is shaping up to be one of 2025’s most heart-stopping cinema experiences.
