A decade after the last kaiju breach, a sudden rift tears open near the Arctic—unleashing new monsters bigger, faster, and now psychically aware. Jake Pentecost (Tom Cruise), burdened by his father’s legacy, returns as commander of the Jaeger program. He partners with Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi), now senior strategist, and rookie pilot Dane (Scott Eastwood). As they scramble to respond, a mysterious survivor named Ryo (Keanu Reeves) emerges, claiming to have Drifted with a kaiju—and survived.

Psychic kaiju anticipate attacks before they happen, rendering old tactics obsolete. Jake and Dane clash on protocol versus instinct. Mako works to design neural shields to protect Drift pairs from psychic interference. Ryo’s experience becomes vital: he teaches Jake how to suppress fear within the Drift, revealing that only emotional synchrony—not just skill—can win.
